Comcast to buy NBC Universal

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=121046318

Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck, the last thing the world needs is Comcast having more power. The company ranked #1 for worst service in America, the company that wants to turn the internet into its own little profit playground at the expensive of decades of advances, the...ugh, I could go on all day, if you don't know why Comcast is one of the most disgusting companies in America already, then just google them a bit. Unless you're on Comcast internet, that is, since their packet forging bullshit often won't even let you connect to Google.com.

This country just gets better and better.

Oh, wonderful, that also means Comcast owns Universal Studios now. So much for going back there next year.

I love days that start with routers going *fzzzt*. Especially when they go downhill from there.

If a friend cracks a corny joke, do you force yourself to laugh politely? What about if it's your boss or teacher? Do you get annoyed if someone else pretends to be amused?

What's wrong with laughing if we're amused, even if it is a corny Puppy Joke?

I complain about my luck sometimes because it's true that the little things ALWAYS seem to go wrong. I don't get much luck on that count. But then I guess the things that go wrong always do stick out more than the ones that don't.

But maybe it's just because somehow it all gets saved up for the big things. Even the things that should be disasters, the stuff that should be so difficult and painful...usually seems to end up so much better than I thought possible.

The details don't matter right now, but it just seems like something that I thought might have been an end to a lot of things might really just be a beginning to even more things so much better. Maybe a restart to some of the same things in a better form, too. Might be tough for a while, and I'm not even sure I deserve it right now, but...if it ends with everyone happy, maybe more so than before in the end...and it seems like it just might...well, who am I to complain?

There are few things I hate more than than that moment where, having found an absolutely amazing webcomic, one that's been around for years and has well over a thousand strips, when you're completely absorbed in it, desperately needing to know how the latest plot twist is going to turn out, and you click that next strip button...and nothing happens, and you realize you're on today's strip, and from now on you have to wait a day, or two, or a week, for each new strip.

Given the choice, would you start this day over again? How about this month or this year?

FUCK no, this month seems to be under some kind of curse for me and most of the people I know, I want it over with as soon as possible. I've had MORE than enough of it!

GAH. I should know better than to try to take part in a political debate anywhere online. Trying to talk to anyone that's willing to take anything Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, or Glen Beck says at face value is about as productive as slamming my head against a brick wall, and considerably more painful.

Once they bring up Birth Certificates or Health Care "Death Panels" come up, the argument is over; there's nothing you can do but take your rabies shots and hope someone locks the person up before they do any more damage.

It really makes it hard to have much hope for humanity.

Oh well. It -is- kinda fun to throw hard facts against their rhetoric and watch them scramble to change their arguments, or just pretend that entire thread of the argument never happened.

Big Bad Wolf to go extinct at theme park

Busch Gardens Williamsburg said Saturday the Virginia theme park's beloved Big Bad Wolf rollercoaster will close this year. Park general manager John Reilly said in a statement that after 25 years of operation, the Big Bad Wolf will scare and entertain riders of all ages for the last time on Sept. 7, The Virginian-Pilot reported. "We realize the Big Bad Wolf is a guest favorite, "Reilly said. "We're making the announcement now so coaster fans can ride one last time before it closes after Labor Day." Busch Gardens said in the statement that 29 million riders have boarded the suspended roller coaster since it became the first of its kind in the world in 1984. "While it remains a safe attraction, it has simply reached the end of its service life," Larry Giles, vice president of engineering and design at the James City County theme park, said. The Virginian-Pilot said no announcement is currently planned for the future replacement of the Big Bad Wolf.

I'm just glad I got a last few rides on it this year, including one more after dark, and glad Lea got to come along too.

What mistake made in your youth do you most regret now?

None whatsoever...I certainly made my mistakes, but I don't know which ones having done differently would change where I am today...and there are a lot of things...and people...that I have now, that I wouldn't give up for anything.
